Reminders

* A test of the Mass Notification System will start at 9 a.m. today (Friday, Oct. 17) on the mass notification boards in classrooms, labs and hallways with a message "THIS IS A TEST OF THE MASS NOTIFICATION SYSTEM." Staff in departmental offices also will be asked to send an e-mail to led_mass_notify@wichita.edu to acknowledge the building name and room number.

* From about 8 a.m.-6 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 17) a water outage will occur in Hubbard Hall and Jabara Hall, for maintenance work.

* Darren DeFrain's new book of stories, "Inside & Out," will be launched at Watermark Books, 4701 E. Douglas, at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 17). There will be a brief reading followed by a book signing. DeFrain is director of the writing program at WSU.

* The Faculty Artist Series will feature a performance by cellist Jakub Omsky at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in Wiedemann Hall. Call 978-3233 for tickets.

* The Central Services Storeroom has special items in stock throughout October to promote breast cancer awareness. Several new pink items are available this month only (while supplies last). Come to the storeroom in the basement of Morrison Hall or call 978-3652 for more information.
