Reminders

* Per the policy change on Academic Year appointments, the option of having payroll earnings spread through the summer months will end with the 8/22/08 paycheck. Any person with a nine- or 10-month appointment who wishes to have monies set aside in a separate personal savings account should contact the Payroll Office at 978-3074 or go to http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=controller&p=payroll for more information.

* At 9:50 a.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 19), KMUW's Carla Eckels reports on a student-led initiative called Use Another Word, Please. The campaign is designed to decrease the use of offensive and derogatory language at schools. The story will also be posted at www.kmuw.org.

* The WSU Alumni Association presents the second annual "We're Not Back to School Bash" from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the Woodman Alumni Center parking lot. Bring your own chair and celebrate alumni and friends who do not have to return to classes this fall. Go to www.wichita.edu/bash or contact Amanda Wilson at 978-3874 to RSVP.

* Some faculty and staff received a bogus e-mail last week requesting personal information. Please be cautious about providing any personal information via e-mail. If you want to report or check the validity of an e-mail message, call the Help Desk at 978-4357.

* The RSC Gallery is open for the fall semester. The first artist featured in the gallery is Phil Anderson, an employee in the Physical Plant. The gallery is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. The exhibit will run through Friday, Aug. 22. For more information, visit www.wichita.edu/rscgallery.
